Keyboard Shortcut:
Search in Folder – Ctrl+F
The Search in Folder function allows you to search for files in the current folder based on specified parameters. It is available for both files in the Catalog and files outside of it. However, for folders in the Catalog, the search options are broader – the Catalog allows searching in the Including Subfolders mode and also supports searching using an extended set of parameters such as keywords, GPS and location, or date and time of modification.
The search field for the function is located in the lower part of the Navigator panel. If the user accesses a folder in the Catalog via the This Computer section, the search field is not displayed – only a button recommending switching to the Catalog is shown.
The setting for an individual parameter can be cleared by clicking the X icon next to that parameter. Clicking the X in the search field cancels the entire search.
- Expand All – expands all parameter sections.
- Collapse All – collapses all parameter sections; only their names are displayed.
- Configure search parameters – opens the Set Search Parameters dialog (see below).
- Apply Display and Sorting settings – in the View and Sort dialog, you can choose whether the Explorer displays content Including Subfolders or only the content of the current folder. Using According to View and Sort Settings will respect what the user has set in the View and Sort dialog. This option is only available for folders in the Catalog.
- Search including subfolders – searches for files matching the set parameters in the current folder and all its subfolders, regardless of what the user has set in the View and Sort dialog. This option is only available for folders in the Catalog.
- Forget after navigation – after switching to a new folder, the search settings are reset.
- Save for each folder separately – the program remembers the last used settings for each folder. These settings are automatically activated when that folder is opened.
- Remember across folders – the last used settings are applied to any folder the user opens.
Set Search Parameters
