Error 1, Error 12

We’re sorry you ran into an error while installing Zoner Studio—let’s get it sorted. If this error message appears, it is possible that something on your computer is blocking the program's access to our servers. Please try the following procedures.

Network Settings

The Windows operating system gives users the option to define whether the network they are connecting to is considered public or private. Setting the network as public can lead to some applications being blocked. Please check your network settings.

Windows 10:

  1. Go to Windows Settings | Network & Internet.
  2. Click on Wi-Fi or Ethernet (depending on what you use) in the left column.
  3. Click on the name of your network.
  4. Select Network profile type.
  5. If you see that your network is set to Public, switch it to Private.

Windows 11:

  1. Go to Windows Settings | Network & Internet.
  2. Click on Properties.
  3. A menu will open where you can see whether your network is set to Public or Private.
  4. Set the network to Private.

After verifying or adjusting these settings, try performing the installation again. If the error occurs again, proceed to the next step.

Folder Check

Check that the following folder (or its subfolders) is not open in File Explorer:

  • C:\Users\***\AppData\Local\Programs\Zoner\ZPS X

The three asterisks "***" represent the name of your user account on the computer.

If the folder was open, close it and try the installation again. If the error occurs again, proceed to the next step.

Computer Shields

Communication between your computer and our servers may also be blocked by an antivirus or similar programs on your computer.

  1. Restart your computer.
  2. Temporarily disable your antivirus, Windows Defender, Firewall, or corporate Firewall.
  3. If you use a proxy server or VPN, temporarily disable those as well.

After making these changes, download the installation file again and run the installation once more. If the error occurs again, proceed to the next step.

Don't forget to enable the shields again.

Hosts File Check

  1. Go to the folder C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc.
  2. Find the file named hosts.
