Zoner Studio often crashes or shuts down unexpectedly. What should I do?

In most cases, we can determine the cause of a program crash when you send us the following:

  • a Zoner Studio system information file,
  • a description of the situation where the crash occurs
  • a PC memory dump file from the time of the crash (compressed into a ZIP file),
  • the specific file (if any) that the program crashes on, including any .xmp and .data-zps files associated with it.

Crash dump files are very large, so please send them using a file transfer service such as WeTransfer. Send the files to support@zoner.com.

Zoner Studio often freezes or stops responding. What should I do?

When the program freezes, it becomes unresponsive, a “Program is not responding” error message may appear, and the entire program window may grey out. We can usually determine the cause of a freeze if you send us the following:

  • a Zoner Studio system information file,
  • a description of the situation where the freeze occurs,
  • a PC memory dump file from the time of the freeze (compressed into a ZIP file),
  • the specific file the program freezes on (if the freeze occurs on a specific file), including any .xmp and .data-zps files.

What should I do if the program isn’t working correctly?

If something doesn’t seem to be working as it should, try a repair installation. If this does not solve the problem, please send us:

Due to the size, please send the files, for example, via WeTransfer to support@zoner.com.

I couldn’t install the program because it isn’t from the Microsoft Store. What should I do?

There are two possible causes for this situation:

  1. You’re using Windows 11 in S mode, which only allows apps from the Microsoft Store, for security and performance reasons. If you want to install an app that isn’t in the Microsoft Store, you’ll need to switch out of S mode.
  1. Your operating system is set to allow only the installation of apps from the Microsoft Store.

When will you natively support my camera or lens?

Unfortunately, we cannot provide specific timelines for individual cameras or lenses. However, we regularly add native support for major models as soon as we are able to access suitable testing units. We thank you for your patience and understanding. For the latest information on native support, check here: Native camera and lens support.

Why can’t I open RAW files from my camera in the Develop or Editor modules?

If your camera is not listed among our natively supported cameras, you will need to install Adobe DNG Converter. For more information, go to: Native camera and lens support.

If your camera is on the list and you still cannot open RAW files in the Develop or Editor modules, please send us a few sample files via a service such as WeTransfer. Send them to support@zoner.com.

How do I change a photo’s DPI?

Our recommendation is to edit photos at their original resolution. DPI is most commonly used as information during printing, and even then, you should treat it only as information about how well the photo will be printed. To learn more about this topic, see our article on photos and DPI: What Resolution Should You Use for Printing?

How do I add a new font to Zoner Studio?

Zoner Studio works with the fonts installed in Windows. So simply install the new font into Windows, and it will show up in Zoner Studio after that. For more details, see this article on adding fonts.

How do I change what the mouse wheel does?

In the Browser module, you can use the mouse wheel to scroll through images or zoom in and out of the current photo.

By default, the mouse wheel changes the values of the settings in slider controls. To change this, go to View | Preferences | General and use the option named Use mouse wheel for changing values in controls.
